Visiting scientist 2022 & 2023

Aleksandra Rapacka-Zdonczyk

Dr. Aleksandra Rapacka-Zdonczyk works at the Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Medical University of Gdansk as an assistant professor. Aleksandra does research in photobiology, molecular biology and microbiology. As part of the project "Identification of molecular mechanism of Escherichia coli response to antimicrobial blue light (aBL) inactivation by genome-wide analysis", she will carry out two research internships (six months total) as a visiting scientist at CESAR.

The main aim of her project is to distinguish aBL-protective genes and to identify aBL-targets in cells contributing to understand the aBL-mediated bacterial inactivation mechanism. The second aim of the project is focused on assessing the risk of tolerance and/or resistance development to aBL. The project is financed by the Polish National Science Center.
